Playlisting for Every Occassion

If you know me, you know I am a musician and music lover. I listen to just about everything and am always looking for new artists, new songs, new sounds to add to my ever-growing library. If you don't know me, you definitely should read this post about the power of music and if you want to know more about me, read my bio here.

Zee Doubleyah (ZW) is my playlisting account. A place to showcase artists, including new, unkown artists that labels don't give any time to. I've got playlists of all sorts. True to my dreamy, moody, pisces nature, I love listening to music based on a mood or a theme and thus comes the organisational system I've set up, categorising largely on mood.

Why I don't use Spotify anymore

There are many a streaming service these days, but for the sake of time and popularity, I'm focusing on the top two: Apple Music & Spotify. When I started playlisting many years ago (2010s), I was a Spotify diehard. But as time has passed and the music business has evolved with streaming and internet changing how artists make a living, it's come out that Spotify is one of the worst for supporting artists. Despite its popularity, Spotify has been criticised for offering very low payouts to artists, leaving many musicians struggling to earn a fair living from their work. If you’re passionate about supporting artists and ensuring they’re compensated fairly, consider switching to a more ethical platform like Apple Music. The ladder is known for offering higher royalty rates to artists, making it a better option for listeners who want to enjoy music while supporting the creators behind it. And that's where I'm moving all my playlists to. By choosing a platform that values artists, your listening subscription not only brings joy to your life but also contribute to the sustainability of the music industry.
