In My Sourdough Bread Baking Era

If you know me, you know baking is my jam. I used to run a vegan bakery, so I’m no stranger to a hot oven. I’m also big on health, fitness, and staying dialed into the latest wellness trends.
If you’re new here, I’m a foodie with a serious love for artisanal boulangerie bread. But let’s be real: nothing hits like a fresh, crusty sourdough loaf. No gums, no emulsifiers, none of that shelf-stable nonsense—just pure, tangy perfection. A good sourdough is basically art you can eat. Problem is, unless you’re grabbing baguettes in France (a whole other story), bakery bread costs a small fortune ($11 a loaf anyone?!).
So, I decided to stop daydreaming and start baking...
Fired up from lack of sleep after staying up past my bedtime to see Keith Urban at CMA Fest, I took a class with Sourdough Nashville, and let me tell you, it was a game-changer. I walked away with a killer recipe, a starter I’ve since named Safira, and the confidence to knead, shape, and bake bread. Fast forward, I’ve cranked out dozens of loaves—some plain, some with additions—and I’m fully obsessed. Sourdough isn’t just bread; it’s a vibe, a craft, and honestly, a way to feed the soul (and maybe all of Nashville).
If you’re curious about sourdough but overwhelmed by online noise, I'd recommend to find a solid class like I did. It’s the push you need to get baking and join the crusty, golden, fermented revolution. If you're local to Nashville, go see Ben; he'll give you all the information and opportunity for hands-on with the dough (really helped me solidify technique).
This is your sign to go try something new, something you've been wanting do for a long time, but haven't because you don't feel ready, haven't had the time, or just keep putting it off for xyz.
