So You Just Had A Baby...A Guide to Motherhood

As I sit in my front room pumping to store aside some extra milk, I find myself recalling the last few years and taking a walk down memory lane. And feeling oh so grateful, for a healthy child, for a healthy family, and for this breast pump. And then I thought, the world needs to know how good this pump is. I remember being a first-time expecting mum and having no idea what to get/where to start. And of course, some of it comes down to personality, lifestyle, opinion. Over the last three and a half years since having a baby I have gone through a lot of baby gear. Nearly four years of research, multiple pumps, half a dozen strollers & carriers, closets full of clothing and stages of baby from newborn to crawling to solids to toddler tantrums. There's still a whole lot I don't know, but I found myself thinking back to new mum me and how overwhelmed I felt. Secoond time 'round and I'm feeling like I've got this. Little to no sleep? No problem, haven't slept through a night in over. thousand days! I've tested a lot and these are my top recommendations on motherhood. Settle in ladies, we're touchin' on it all!

The Fourth Trimester Is Absolutely Real

There's so much gathering and focusing on the pregnant woman and the labour & delivery. I remember such a production in preparing for the big show. And you absolutely should, mindset matters more than anything (with being a mother too); and preparing yourself mentally and physically for birth as well as nourishing yourself (and baby) properly during pregnancy is absolutely important (hello, you're growing another human being). AND what I found the first time around being newly postpartum is that even though I prepped some freezer meals, I way under prepared for the biggest life change that is becoming a mother. It's a huge change, you have to become less selfish, your time is no longer your own and your body just went through a major event, which as beautiful as it is, was a lot for your body. Give yourself time to heal, and be. Don't rush. Slowwwww down. I'm writing this somewhat as a message to myself as I lie in bed nursing my two-week old baby.
